Who Are We?

Nice to meet you!

We’re The Care Boutique, located at 3630 Plainfield Avenue NE in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the front of CommuniCare’s facility. We opened our doors in December 2023, offering a thoughtfully curated selection of women’s and men’s clothing, gifts, toys, housewares, and more.

But we’re more than just a boutique — we’re a vital part of CommuniCare’s Vocational Rehabilitation Program.

Our Mission & Impact

Just beyond a set of double doors from the boutique lies a vibrant, supportive space where adult survivors of traumatic brain injury (TBI) participate in CommuniCare’s Vocational Rehab Day Program. This clubhouse-model space is where clients work on developing job skills and creating handcrafted goods — everything from candles and succulents to woodwork, artwork, heat-pressed designs, Cricut creations, and more.

Clients earn hourly wages for their work, building confidence, purpose, and independence. The products they create are featured and sold in our boutique.

How to Spot Client-Made Products

Client-made items are integrated throughout the store and showcased on our featured hand-crafted table. These special pieces are marked with a green CommuniCare sign and labeled with a sticker or tag, so you’ll always know when your purchase is directly supporting a TBI survivor's hard work and rehabilitation.  .

Ways to Support the TBI Community

Every visit counts.
When you shop at The Care Boutique, proceeds go directly back into our rehabilitation programs, supporting individuals on their journey to healing and independence.
